What is Guardianship?
Guardianship provides practical and moral support for students who are studying in a foreign country. A guardian takes on the roles and responsibilities of the student’s parents. This includes dealing with the school, helping to solve any problems the student has at their school or homestay, and providing additional care and assistance when necessary.
- Who needs Guardianship?
- All students age 16 and under are required by law to have a guardian while studying in Ireland.
- Many schools require that all international students (including students over the age of 16) have a guardian throughout their time at the school.
